Case Studies - Heysham Nuclear Power Station
Our Project Team was asked to provide broadband Internet connectivity for one of the main contractors upgrading and refurbishing the 400 Kv substations at Heysham Nuclear Power Station in Morecambe, Lancashire, UK. We were tasked with commissioning a connection in a very short period of time in an environment with complex Health and Safety issues.
Tariam installed our equipment ahead of schedule, and Tariam Satellite Broadband now backhauls the network in the site offices, including providing IPSec Virtual Private Network connectivity.
Tariam now has satellite broadband connections running in 4 nuclear facilities in the UK.
Since this installation went ahead, the customer has ordered our systems for numerous other sites in the UK and abroad where we act as sole contractor designing the network connection, and installing and supporting the connection facility.
Tariam works closely with 3 worldwide corporations that develop, operate and maintain national grid infrastructures for national generating companies like the UK National Grid.
In all cases Tariam acts as the sole contractor installing and supporting mission critical broadband communications via satellite in extremely difficult environments all over Europe.
Tariam's remit includes providing local broadband connectivity at remote sites, IPSec VPN connection and analogue or digital voice and fax communications via satellite.
Tariam also provides satellite broadband for remote control and monitoring of installations and systems for the wind farm industry.
