Case Studies - SCADA
Tariam provides a network of satellite broadband based connections for a British Government Research Body monitoring changes in the earth's magnetic field.
Use of Tariam's remote site SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) equipment enables monitored data to be sent back to a central site to be collated and analysed automatically 24 hours a day.
As the sites are all in extremely remote (sometimes unmanned) locations installing terrestrial broadband communications would have been time consuming and cost prohibitive.
The high network availability, low power consumption and robustness of the Tariam solution mean that Tariam SCADA equipment is ideal for creating a connection to the main Internet backbone where no fixed line infrastructure exists, even if wind or solar are the only means of providing power.
The success of the project is underlined by the fact that the network is being continually expanded and more sites are coming online every month.
