The Tooway service connects your computer or smart-phone to the Internet with a high-speed connection via one of the Tooway satellites.

The Tooway equipment connects your home or small office at speeds much faster than dial-up, indeed file transfer speeds can be as much as 184 times faster than dial-up, and 20 times faster than many ADSL (fixed line broadband) connections. A single satellite mini-dish and a modem are all you need.

Tooway Satellites

Toowaydirect currently operates Tooway in Europe on the Eutelsat’s new Ka Sat satellite. This is a state of the art communications satellite in geostationary orbit about 36,000 Kms above the equator.

Toowaydirect’s satellite technology allows us to modify various parameters of the earth-to-space signals on an individual user basis so as to adapt in real time to each user’s situation, which may change due to weather and other factors. This all happens automatically.

At one time heavy rain was thought to be a potential barrier to successful deployment of small satellite systems. Indeed, the reduction of signal level is so important that it was originally difficult to guarantee a high-quality service.

Toowaydirect has included in Tooway satellite air interface technology that mitigates rain fade. The hardware at your site automatically responds to rain fade with uplink power control and adaptive data coding techniques (Adaptive Coding and Modulation – ACM) that overcome potential outages, while optimising the use of satellite transponder bandwidth. This gives our Tooway network higher reliability compared to other two-way consumer satellite services offered in Europe.

Toowaydirect’s Tooway service connects to the main internet backbone via a multi-redundant network of satellite earth stations via state of the art fibre technology.

Tooway Mini-dish

The Tooway mini-dish both receives signals from the satellite, and sends signals from the customer up to the satellite, using the latest microwave receive and transmit technologies.

We offer a small, efficient mini-dish which can be mounted on a roof, wall or via pole mount in the ground. Toowaydirect provides professional installation of the equipment in the UK, which will take approximately 2-3 hours.

Tooway Satellite Modem

The Tooway modem is required to connect one or more customer PCs to the network. Toowaydirect uses standardised modem technology based on the Tooway DOCSIS cable modem standards to offer a low-cost, small satellite modem via a straightforward RJ45 connection.

Your PC

Connected via Ethernet to the Tariam Tooway modem, your PC will have high-speed Internet access, whether in your home or in your small office. You may connect your PC directly to your Tooway modem with an Ethernet cable, or you can attach a wireless switch or router to your modem and connect wirelessly (using the popular 802.11 standards for example). If you have a wireless router (if you haven’t don’t worry we can supply one) you can connect smart-phones to your Tooway broadband as well.
